New Era of D & L-Suites: What & Why the Fortune 500 Need to Change

Truth be told, I find myself being more and more grateful every day. Rounding out the chapters of my upcoming book, I’ve been extraordinarily fortunate to spend some time with some of the most brilliant minds of our time. And while many of these conversations revolve around the needs of the C-suite in companies as small as start-ups to global enterprises, I thought that today we would take a quick trip down the hall and visit with our friends in the D and L-suites.

1. The Digital Era – The power of social trends, global marketing, business analysis, the cloud (almost as good a cloud 9 😉 are now part of the digital landscape. The key question is not whether or not companies are “going digital” (they better be) but rather the effectiveness of their digital footprint.

In the book “Leading Digital: Turning Technology into Business Transformation” by George Westerman, Didier Bonnet, and Andrew McAfee, the authors emphasize how large companies are leveraging digital to gain strategic advantage.

Are you one of these companies? If so, you are ahead of the game by not letting technology and innovation disruptors take you and your business down! By creating a “digital vision”, companies create a sustainable business differentiator that can transform the organization across the value chain.

Why is this important? It is predicted that in next 10-20 years over 40% of Fortune 500 companies would be gone! Yes, you heard me correctly. That alone should be the BIG WHY to use every advantage possible to leverage the digital world.

2. The Leadership Era – The L-Suite includes effective organizational and leadership development, employee and client engagement & risk and change management. It is necessary for organizations to foster timely, effective and relevant change that every responsible, thoughtful and visionary leader must do to succeed. However, many leaders feel, well, stuck.

It’s hard to know what to do next if you never did anything like it before – I get that. Today’s leaders need more than ever to remove obstacles and constraints within the organization by creating exciting and new possibilities that affect everyone’s lives.

Leaders are now being held accountable for their actions, digital requires us to be more transparent, more real, more human than ever before.” @iSocialFanz

Often we hear,“We are not ready just yet” or “We have a lot of work to do”. The key is to allow yourself to take action and seek support. The result of sitting on the sidelines and waiting to see what others will do may keep you on the sidelines and out of the game forever. The more we engage with uncertainties, the easier it is for to be a guiding force into one of the most transformational journeys of our time. It will lead us to major breakthroughs, allowing us to see what is possible by disrupting old paradigms. This will be a key driver to ensure organizational digital mastery and reach significantly higher levels of profit, productivity, and performance.
