6 Leadership Lessons From Powerful Women Leaders

As many of you know, I recently participated in and spoke at the 16th Annual International Leadership Association (ILA) Global Conference in San Diego. The exchange of ideas around the path to success in business (and life) was amazing. I especially found the Keynote address by Connie Matsui to be both thoughtful and inspiring. The theme of this year conference was conscious leading for global change through the emergence of our collective realities. It was an inspirational and transformational event, to say the least. The best part? I had an opportunity to network with some of the most influential thought leaders in the world. Here is what I have learned: 1. Be Courageous – Be your own champion, until others start to champion your success! It often takes a time to deliver a significant impact in an organization. Accordingly, it is imperative to stay courageous until you can prove what you are […]

Women’s Leadership Landscape: 4 Reasons Why We Can’t Wait Until 2085

Yes, women are making progress in the business, but that progress continues to be slow. Too slow. In a recent study conducted by the Center for American Progress, the role of women in the leadership landscape lags well behind other business trends. In the United States, women represent 50.8 percent of the population and hold 52 percent of what are typically considered “professional-level jobs”. You may be surprised to learn that many parts […]

A last minute addition to my weekend, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. In fact, I had planned on spending most of that time working on my book. But I was drawn to some of the speakers on the agenda and as I’ve said before, you just never know how and when you can meet exceptional people. So, I went…and I was glad that I did! I had the chance to meet some exceptional leaders, including […]

Make it Happen: 7 Lessons From Powerful International Women Leaders

In honor of International Women’s Day, I would like to use this moment to celebrate you, the professional woman and the impact that you are making around the world. The theme of 2015 IWD it is to “Make it Happen” for women by focusing on: 1. Greater Awareness of Women’s Equality – This is a day to reflect on women’s many achievements throughout history and to continue the march for women’s rights and gender equality in the years to come. Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance.” ~ Kofi Annan 2. Growth of Women-Owned Business’ – Today, there is still far fewer start-ups created by women. According to Alicia M. Robb, “Despite the key role this sector plays in the US economy, female entrepreneurs still need to close a wide […]
