What Types of Leaders Are Most Needed in the World Today?

In the world we live in today, there are more personal and professional complexities than ever before. Organizations, especially the Fortune 500, need a strong leadership presence in order to succeed in transforming, innovating and implementing their vision and value across the globe. The impact on humanity by actions of leaders today is indeed more visible than ever before. As I was seeking the answer for years to “What types of leaders are most needed in the world today?,” I consistently came to the following conclusions: Charismatic Leaders – have a lot of charm and engaging personality with a strong ability to motivate and inspire others by encouraging their followers to commit and devote their time and support in new innovative projects or large goals. Legacy Leaders – represent a body of work at each stage of their career or path as they establish the foundational building blocks. Over time, they accumulate […]

What Kind of Leaders or Players Do You Have on Your Team?

All of us at one point in our life played sports, either as an individual and/or team contributor growing up. Those early life lessons shaped us to be better today, either as a pro athlete performer or successful executive business contributor. I am sure you have your own powerful story and golden nuggets that helped you along the way to your rise to the top. For me, it was a mix of bittersweet experiences that by looking in the “reverse side of the mirror” of accumulated events, I would not trade them for anything despite how they were painful and or challenging. Henry Ford’s quote sums it up the best: “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” As I am reflecting more on specific kinds of players and leaders I have encountered along the way while dealing with both pro athletes and business executives, I […]

Why Fortune 500 Organizations Need Change Leaders

Demand for change leadership assistance and support is a rather urgent situation for Fortune 500 companies in today’s rapidly changing business world. Why? If you haven’t noticed, many companies are going through major transformations. They often look for external assistance for quick turnarounds and focus on short–term changes while simultaneously working to grow their long-term global businesses. This is where things get complicated in addition to the always present, very complex, and high-risk business challenges regardless of the industry or sector. The Business Objective – What exactly are you trying to accomplish? That is the question in my mind and an excellent starting conversation to have before getting too deep into the details around specific issues. If you don’t know the specific business objectives desired and how to measure what you’ve committed to achieving, stop, gain clarity and then proceed. The Change Management Strategy – Are you leveraging strategic and tactical […]

The Power Behind Executive Leadership Mastermind Groups

To many people the concept and value of an effective mastermind group may possibly be rather new and undiscovered territory. A mastermind group provides the opportunity for group participants to tap into the potential wealth of knowledge and intelligence of others, especially when seeking solutions to complex issues and challenges. The best part, if you are a leader facing a dilemma or uncertainty, you can quickly tap into other leaders for guidance and advice, while learning and working together to find the best solution to the problem. The excellent news; when the mastermind groups are set up correctly, they can produce tremendous growth and value to you and your business. I had an opportunity to be part of a high impact leader mastermind group just yesterday, allowing me not only to ask some of my burning questions but also to work together with others in finding solutions to very complex issues […]

Women’s Leadership Landscape: 4 Reasons Why We Can’t Wait Until 2085

Yes, women are making progress in the business, but that progress continues to be slow. Too slow. In a recent study conducted by the Center for American Progress, the role of women in the leadership landscape lags well behind other business trends. In the United States, women represent 50.8 percent of the population and hold 52 percent of what are typically considered “professional-level jobs”. However, women continue to be dramatically underrepresented in senior leadership roles. “In fact, it’s now estimated that, at the current rate of change, it will take until 2085 for women to reach parity with men in leadership roles in our country.” ~Judith Warner, Senior Fellow – Center for American Progress Wow, if that’s how long it will take to gain parity with men in leadership roles in the US, how long it will take in rest of the world? You may be surprised to learn that many parts […]

How to Create High Impact: 7 Ways to Change Your Performance in Life, Business or Sports

Happy Tuesday! As The World Messenger (which by the way is the title of my new book) I’ve virtually traveled the world over the past month. From Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, UK, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia and Serbia to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Columbia, Argentina, Canada and back to my home in the US, I’ve been reflecting on dozens of astonishing conversations with some of the most fascinating and accomplished people in business and professional sports. I also got to flex my language muscles, hear the most appealing accents… and laugh at some things that were literally lost in translation. (Skype, you Rock!) While every conversation was unique and joyous, I found that they all shared a common thread:  Abundant and endless passion. Why Passion? Everything we do requires a particular level of energy. If we work on self-discovery and exploration (remember the good old days when we […]

8 Steps “Glocal” Leaders Can Take to Increase Social Responsibility & Innovation

Today to succeed as a socially responsible and innovative leader, more than ever we need to break from the past and the norms. In fact, we need to step-up and step in, instead of step-out, step aside or step down! The key is to engage, champion and collaborate with as highly diverse a group of people as possible. Why? That is a secret sauce in solving the most complex issues, creating astonishing, innovative solutions, and building the workforce of the 21st century. On my journey as a creative and socially responsible, passionate consultant, I run into a broad range of leaders that are trying to contribute actively to innovation-spurring discussions. These events and working groups are aiming to develop corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. Fostering impactful and lasting learning by doing, rather than only listening, and following directions is an excellent start in developing CSR. It is exciting to see the magic […]

Power of Commitment: Creating Your Perfect Life NOW

After holiday celebrations and spending a lot of time with friends and family, many of us are gearing up to a new start in the brand new year. Some of us are with new inspirations, expectations, and excitement while others are just simply dreading to come back to the office, dealing with so many personal and professional obstacles. As a result, it is so much harder to move forward in life. I am amused to see or hear how many people are desiring or dreaming about the life they would love to have. They are taking little actions to bring them closer to their perfect life. Life by design, not by default. Life of personal and professional growth, balance, freedom, and joy. But how far we are ready to go will be quickly determined by how much are we committed versus interested in any parts of our professional or personal […]

How to Thrive As Executive Leader TODAY

In different or difficult circumstances, we are challenged or called for various leadership skills, especially “take-charge leadership.” Since everything around us is so rapidly changing, it calls for high performance in C-Suite, in addition to consulting the world to assist talent, teams, and organizational transformation effectively. But to navigate the unexpected changes or disruptions, it calls more than anything for sound decision and execution with integrity and high ethical standards and reputation. The exact reasons behind this should not be the speed of communication and social media exposure but true 24/7 thought leadership traits. When you do the right thing, nothing is left to worry! Today, success on big accounts will not fully unfold if organizations are only seeking someone’s talent or skill, without looking into their personality. Nothing great is achieved without effort or commitment! And that effort and dedication need to come from the team, especially the leadership […]
